Payment Plan is a genre-defiant release from Son Reis Project—a trio comprised of Jason Goessl (Bass VI), Jason Reisdorf (tenor sax), and Ryan Thomas (drums). Forged in improvisation and driven by raw energy, the record fuses elements of no wave, post-punk, surf, prog, free jazz, and ritual noise into a tightly wound set of eight gripping instrumentals.
From the psycho-surf thrill ride of “101” to the jagged chaos of “Coke Type Thing,” the band revels in tension and release. Tracks like “Slinky” and “Flex” deliver headbanging grooves with crushing low-end and searing sax leads, while “Galileo’s” explores a more spiritual, exploratory mode with drones, shifting meters, and raga-inspired solos. “Mitch N.V.” blasts into cosmic surf territory, while “Seven” channels the angular complexity of prog fusion. At the album’s center is the title track—an apocalyptic four-part ritual for drums, Bass VI, and steel keg that moves from patient drones to pure percussive mayhem.
Unapologetically intense, sonically adventurous, and deeply physical, Payment Plan captures Son Reis Project at their most urgent and unfiltered—eight tracks of propulsion, catharsis, and controlled chaos.

"Flex" is a high-octane blast of no wave swagger and art-rock muscle. Written by Jason Reisdorf, the track kicks off with a raw saxophone riff that leads into a relentless groove fueled by heavy Bass VI and pounding drums. A display of primal energy and angular phrasing, “Flex” is aggressive, intense, and built to make an impact. With its punishing rhythm section and gritty sax, this track is for fans of sax-forward noise, downtown skronk, and the abrasive edge of post-punk. Unapologetically fierce, “Flex” doesn't ask for your attention—it demands it.

"Seven" is a relentless, time-warped juggernaut of instrumental prog-fusion mayhem—built in 7/4 and forged at the intersection of doom, jazz, and avant-metal. Originally composed by Jim Anton and reimagined by Son Reis Project, the track channels the feral precision of King Crimson, the shred-fueled spirituality of Mahavishnu Orchestra, and the grim weight of early Sabbath. From locked-in tone rows and massive unison hits to shred bass solos and soaring tenor sax flights, “Seven” is pure propulsion—angular, raw, and erupting with controlled chaos. It doesn’t just flirt with dissonance and complexity—it weaponizes them. This one’s for the heads.

“Slinky” is a riff-forward instrumental that slithers through locked-in grooves and raw sonic textures, anchored by the tight interplay of Bass VI, tenor saxophone, and drum set. The track opens with a coiling unison line between bass and sax that sets a hypnotic tone, winding through minor key twists and syncopated rhythms. As the drums build intensity underneath, the tune morphs—shredding bass solos cut through like a buzzsaw, while the saxophone veers from melodic bite to full-throated skronk.

“101” is a psycho surf instrumental by Son Reis Project, written by Jason Goessl while driving Highway 101 on Washington’s Olympic Peninsula. It opens with an aggressive sax line and thunderous rhythm section before launching into a wild ride of harmonic minor and blues-infused melodies. With shoegaze textures, heavy riffs, and soaring solos, “101” captures the tension and freedom of the open road in one relentless, cinematic wave.
